Simple, sexy Valentine's outfits that prove African fashion is hotter than ever

Simple, sexy Valentine's outfits that prove African fashion is hotter than ever

Sassy, subtle, confident, relaxed… whatever your vibe, are you ready to fall in love with yourself all over again this Valentine’s?

Valentine’s Day may just be one of our favourite dates on the calendar. Why? Because it’s a day that celebrates  passion

And we know that you’re passionate about sharing your bold, vibrant culture with the world. The best way to do that, we say, is by wearing what you want, when you want to, and in a way that makes you feel fierce.

Clothing should make you feel good, so it’s important to choose something that makes you feel sexy, confident and comfortable. If you’re feeling stuck, sweaty, or conscious in your outfit, you’ll rob yourself of enjoying the experience you’re in. And who wants that? Not us.

But if you’re short on ideas, we’ve got you!

There’s still plenty of time to find a killer outfit, no matter what your plans are. Date night with your SO, a Galentine’s brunch, it doesn’t matter. We’ll bring the clothes, you bring the heat.

Here’s how to wear our debut collection on the sexiest day of the year:

1 Toomey & Koko item, 3 ways to wear it this Valentine’s Day

Ikeja Wrap Top

The sleeveless wrap design gives you the option to decide how much coverage you want on the bust, so you can focus your attention on the moment.

Pair with a satin maxi skirt in a dusty pink to make the hand-drawn design of the Adire fabric pop. The print does the talking here, so keep the rest neutral, and add a pair of pointed heels in the same pink as the skirt for maximum effect.

Layer your Ikeja Wrap Top over a long-sleeved fitted maxi dress to accentuate your shape. Add some Chelsea boots and an over the shoulder handbag to carry your essentials, and swipe on a red lip to bring out Cupid’s favourite colour.

If you’re spending the day outdoors and need some extra warmth (oh, please bring back the sun!) then layer your Ikeja Wrap Top over a ribbed jumper in a neutral shade. Add some faux leather leggings and chunky dark trainers while you pick up a coffee in your reusable cup.

Eko Blazer

Just because red and pink are synonymous with the day of love, it doesn't mean that has to dictate your colour palette if that’s not your vibe.

Case in point: The Eko Blazer in navy. It’s double-breasted for an oh-so-flattering fit on any body shape.

We’re going straight in with a power combo for this one. Pair with our Ife Trousers, a strapped heel and a statement clutch. Add a silver necklace with a circular pendant to compliment the buttons and you’re good to go.

For a subtle sexiness, wear your Eko Blazer over a satin slip dress in a champagne hue for a metallic twist. Add vegan leather mules, gold hoop earrings and a soft bucket bag with a chain handle to bring a touch of glamour.

The classic look that never fails? Great fitting jeans, a white tee and the Eko Blazer. This simple statement works just as well with boots as it does your highest heels, so we’ll leave that one to you. For a striking finish, go for a deep, smokey eye.

Ilesa Flared Trousers

A flattering high waist and a bold flare from the knee? Yes, please! The Ilesa Flared Trousers bring bold Nigerian passion to the British high street.

For comfort and warmth, lightly tuck in a relaxed, soft roll neck into the high waistband for a contrast of textures. Pop on a pair of cream pointed stilettos and add a shoulder bag with a boxy structure to create an eye-catching silhouette.

To turn heads the moment you walk in the door, up the sexiness with a sleek strappy top with a deep plunging neckline. Keep your hair in an updo to show off those collar bones and don’t forget to acknowledge how hot you look before you head out the door.

Fancy something a bit more punchy? The Ilesa Flared Trousers are as versatile as you want them to be. Give them a twist of grunge with a long sleeve bodysuit in black, white or cream, and chunky biker boots. Balance out the flare with a wide-brimmed fedora.
